How Times Change

A little under 2 years ago, I was driving the murdered Rabbit smacking sub-frame off the ground. With the expectation of a child to come, I decided it was time to get something a little more practical for when that time actually did come. The Tiguan was the answer. The modding was going to be [...]

The Results: 92 vs. 87

Back on November 22, 2010, I decided to start a test using 87 octane gasoline instead of the recommended 92 octane gasoline like the owners manual states.
The original plan was to test with 5 fill ups using 87 octane gasoline. I ended up testing with 8 fill ups.
The different between the gas mileage while using [...]

Negative Mud

Well, the conditions we were expecting in Oscoda, MI were not there.
The temperature was not warm enough to keep the mud. Instead, we were welcomed with mud colored ice.
We were smacking sub frame off of the chunks of ice that were built up in the middle of the road.
The other sucky part is the lack [...]

Mudding

We will be leaving tonight for a weekend trip to Oscoda, MI. Not camping outside this time around though. Staying with a friend.
She informed us that the roads are beyond jacked up. Mud is a foot deep.
She said that you CAN’T STOP. You must keep going, flooring it down the street. Otherwise, you will get [...]

One Year Later

One year ago today, December 28, 2009, I took delivery of the Tiguan.
I have put over 13,600 miles on her without a single problem.
I have pumped over 570 gallons of gasoline into her.
So far, she has averaged 23.81 miles per gallon of gasoline.
Here is to another year of pummeling…

Less Pep In It’s Step

The first thing that I noticed with 87 octane gas in the tank is the amount of pep the vehicle has.
I have also noticed that the engine is eating more gas as the gas gauge is going down much faster than it does when 92 is in it.

92 vs. 87

The Tiguan owners manual recommends higher octane gasoline.
I have been putting 92 (93 when available) in ever since I got it.
I had to gas up today and decided to do a little test with 87 octane gas.
I will gas up the next 5 times with 87 octane gas to see if the gas mileage takes [...]
