Audio Install Complete

January 15th, 2010 at 9:14 am

I finished up the audio install last night.  I decided to add an on/off switch to the remote wire running to the amp.

This will allow me to turn off the amp all together when I remove the subs from the rear since I will need to remove them for up north camping trips or if I need to haul anything.

Thanks to Ducky for suggesting the on/off switch.

Audio Install Progress

January 10th, 2010 at 12:30 pm

I got the headunit (Pioneer DEH-P6900UB) installed yesterday along with the amp (JL Audio 500/1).

I thought the install was going to be simple since the Tiguan is based on the MK5 platform.  I thought wrong.  It took about an hour and a half just to get the power wire through the firewall.

I still need to install the subs (Two 12 inch JL Audio W3V2’s in a sealed box), but that won’t take more than ten minutes.  I ran out of time as I had other plans later in the day.

I should be able to get the subs in sometime this week.  I will post photos after the install is complete.

Wheel Color Sample

January 8th, 2010 at 9:04 am

I took a trip up to the powder coater a few weeks ago to see a sample of the color I will be getting the wheels powdered in.

The color is called “Mirror Chrome”.  The photos do not do the color justice.

I wanted a natural aluminum look to go along with the reflex silver and that is exactly what “Mirror Chrome” turns out looking like.

This photo is was shot outdoors.

This photo was shot indoors.

A Slight Change

January 6th, 2010 at 11:04 am

Well, as you can see, it’s a little different around here.  Projekt-GIB has changed and gone in a totally different direction.  The obvious change is the fact that the new Projekt-GIB is no longer black.  I decided that it was time to do something different.

It was time to put my mind to work and do something other than making a car 100% black.  I accomplished everything that I wanted to with the previous vehicle and I wouldn’t have done it any differently.

As you can tell from the image below, the new vehicle is a 2010 Reflex Silver/Charcoal Tiguan with a 6-speed manual.  I am very excited to start making it into what is envisioned in my head.

No more driving 1/2 inch off the ground!  No more window tint tickets!

The Goal: Create a uniquely modified Tiguan that is 100% daily drivable no matter what the conditions are.
